Anti Meta:How To Beat Six Samurai

Here's my thoughts on what an anti meta deck should look like after the new set is released:

Monsters
2 Doomcaliber Knight
2 Fossil Dyna Pacheycephalo
2 Banisher Of The Light
2 DD Warrior Lady
1 Blackwing-Gale The Whirlwind
2 Kinetic Soldier
2 Cyber Dragon
2 King tiger Wanghu

Spells
2 Heat Wave
1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Pot Of Duality
1 Giant Trunade
3 Smashing Ground
2 Book Of Moon

Traps
1 Trap Stun
1 Mirror Force
2 Solemn Warning
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
3 Dimensional Prison
1 Sakeretsu Armor
1 Dark Bribe
1 Dust Tornado

Side Deck
1 Kinetic Soldier
2 Consecrated Light
2 DD Crow
1 Effect Veiler
2 Zombie World
1 Twister
2 Warrior Elimination
1 Compulsary Evacuation Device
1 Sakeretsu Armor
2 Mask Of Restrict

Tech Card's
"Banisher Of The Light"
Although many people run "Banisher Of The Radiance" in Anti-Meta if I'm completely honest I prefer
this,"Banisher Of The Light" has 2000 Defence Points so other cards that could atk over "Banisher Of The Radiance" can't.
I'ts also good with "Heat Wave" which is my next tech for this article,
Heat Wave reads:

Fish OTK

Here's a deck I've been playing about with for a while,it's a really good deck as long as you don't play against Anti-Meta,anything else and you should win quite quickly.

Main Deck

Monsters

3 Superancient Deepsea King Coelcanth
1 Angel 07
1 Gorz The Emissary Of Darkness
1 Tragoedia
1 Light And Darkness Dragon

3 Swap Frog
2 Treeborn Frog
1 Ronintoadin
2 Dupe Frog
2 Mother Grizzly
3 Fishborg Blaster
3 Oyster Meister
2 Snowman Eater

2 Pot Of Duality
3 Moray Of Greed
2 Gold Sarcophagus
2 Enemy Controller
1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn
1 Cold Wave
1 Giant Trunade
2 Mystical Space Typhoon

Tech Card 1: Angel 07
I decided to main this card as alot of the meta at my local is Frog Monarch and Debris Plants
if you can manage to get this guy out in the first few turns against Plant or Frogs then they can't really do alot to stop him,he stops Gorz,Tragoedia,Fader,Monarchs,Treeborn,Dust Spirit etc etc..

He also has 2500 atk points which is gonna be equally as hard to get passed without being able to use cards like Lonefire Blossom and Monarchs.

Tech Card 2:Mother Grizzly

I think this cards really underrated,I mean its like a Mystic Tomato or Giant Rat but it brings out Water monsters(Mainly Swap/Dupe Frog in this)
It can help the OTK alot by giving you an extra monster to tribute for Coelcanth.

Thats all for now,but I'll be posting more up soon.

The Best And Worst Moments Of Yu-Gi-Oh - 2008-Present Day

Heres my thoughts on the best and worst things to happen to Yu-Gi-Oh in the last 2 and a bit years,

At the start of 2008 one of the biggest and best moments happened to Yugioh!- The release of the "Phantom Darkness" Booster Pack,This pack not only released cards like Gladiator Beast Darius,Gladiator Proving Ground and Gladiator Beast Andal but also brought on the reign of Dark Armed Dragon Return(DAD-Return) Combining cards like Destiny Hero-Malicious,Destiny Draw,Allure Of Darkness,Dark Magician Of Chaos,Return From A Different Dimension,Dark Grepher and most importantly Dark Armed Dragon!

Dark Armed Dragon could be special summoned from the hand while you had exactly 3 Dark Monsters in your graveyard,This meant that a duelist could use cards like Dark Grepher and Destiny Draw to quickly fill up the Graveyard with darks and drop multiple DAD's

Although the release of these cards were big there was something even bigger on it's way!

The release of the "Lightsworn" archetype,
This deck worked by using "Lumina,Lightsworn Summoner","Solar Recharge" and other "Lightsworn" cards to send cards from the top of the deck to the Graveyard,This allowed players to special summon "Judgment Dragon" very quickly.

Gladiator Beasts and Lightsworns dominated the format from the release of LODT(Light Of Destruction) forward

September 2008-The Banned List

This list banned: Dark Magician Of Chaos,Destiny Hero-Disk Commander and Premature Burial.
And Restricted Breaker The Magical Warrior,Cyber Dragon,Monster Gate and Reasoning.
Not forgetting the semi-limited list: Dark Armed Dragon,Rescue Cat,Phantom Of Chaos,Summoner Monk,Card Of Safe Return,Chain Strike and Nobleman Of Crossout

along with changes to Restict cards was the unrestricting of other cards this time the cards unrestricted were:Allure Of Darkness,Destiny Hero-Malicious,Light And Darkness Dragon,Mage Power,Reinforcements Of The Army and Royal Decree
(Some of the PTDN cards had be quickly added to the list in May 2008)

The Format of September 2008 forward:

With the depart of Upper Deck Entertainment in the April the Yugioh scene for Europe was taken over by Konami.

The next thing that was about to happen was the Release of "The Duelist Genesis" along with alot of new things including Synchro Monsters,Psychics and new support for Lightsworn in the form of "Charge Of The Light Brigade"

The New set/list allowed Tele-Dad to make its debut at Shonen Jumps and other major Tournaments around the world... Tele-DAD looked similar to this:

Monsters
2 Dark Armed Dragon
3 Destiny Hero Malicious
2-3 Krebons
0-1 Psychic Commander
1 Dark Grepher
1 Spirit Reaper
1 Destiny Hero Fear Monger
1 Destiny Hero Doom Lord
1 Destiny Hero Diamond Dude
1 Elemental Hero Stratos
1 Mystic Tomato
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Caius The Shadow Monarch

Spells
3 Destiny Draw
3 Allure Of Darkness
2 Reinforcements Of The Army
3 Emergency Teleport
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Monster Reborn
1 Brain Control
0-2 Mind Control

Traps
3 Solemn Judgment
2 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast
2 Royal Oppression(optional)
1 Crush Card Virus
1 Trap Dustshoot

this deck won nearly every SJC(Shonen Jump Championship)/Major Event for the 6 mths that the deck was at full strength.

Zombies and Lightsworn were the nearest deck to Tele-Dad for this particular format.

March 2009

With Lightsworn getting Charge of the light brigade but not really seeing any play among alot of Tele-DAD decks since it was released
Lightsworn seemed like a good deck to play for the new format(Tele-DAD was cripled by DAD going to 1,allure/ddraw/malicious to 2 and Emergency teleport going to 1)

between March and around July  lightsworn dominated,Then came the release of X-Saber Airbellum,Blackwing and Dark Stike Fighter

This made cards like Rescue Cat and Reckless Greed more playable outside of combo decks,

Cat Synchro and Blackwings main objectives were to clear the opponents field(Icarus Attack,Crush Card Virus etc...) and bring out 2 Dark Strike Fighters(GK Spy/Guard +Airbellum/Gale and Blackwing Shura/Lv 4 Blackwing Monster + Gale) attacking and tributing the 2 DSF's in the Main Phase 2 for 8000
Cold Wave and Summoner monk were the best way of doing this in Cat while Blackwing used Black Whirlwind,Morphing Jar and other cards to quickly thin through your deck.

September 2009
This ends the era of Cat/Blackwing/Lightsworn and a format of OTK's

Banned:Dark Strike Fighter,Card Of Safe Return,Monster Reborn and Crush Card Virus....

I will finish this article later as it's taking along time lol

With a big part of the format revolving around Trap heavy decks Jinzo allows me to swarm with Machina Fortress(s) and other monsters without the fear of being mirror forced etc...

Tech Card 2:Cyber Dragon
I have decided to main 3 Cyber Dragons to allow me to bring out Jinzo and Chimeratech Fortress Dragon quicker, allowing the deck to otk a few turns in.

So thats my Machina deck,

Until next time...

Rio :)

Rio's Deck Profile:Lightsworn

Here's my Lightsworn Deck and same as always card/tech choices explained at the bottom.

1 Giant Trunade
2 Monster Reincarnation
2 Pot Of Duality

Traps (5)
1 Beckoning Light
3 Royal Decree
1 Royal Oppression

Tech Pick 1:Effect Veiler

Since the list that marked the end of the Lightsworn era (March 2010)
without 3 Copies of "Charge Of The Light Brigade","Honest" and "Lumina,Lightsworn Summoner" I believe that Lightsworn has been to unstable to play at a Premier Event like the Nationals or a YCS,
Now however is a different story,
With the recent release of cards like "Pot Of Duality" and "Effect Veiler" Lightsworn has become alot more consistent.
So down to the card:
It allows you to have the edge in the mirror match stopping Lightsworns from milling,Lumina from reviving,Judgment Dragon from blowing up the field,It also gives you the power to stop cards like Debris Dragon,Zombie Master,Elemental Hero Stratos,Black Salvo and popular Synchros like Brionac etc..

Tech 2:Tragoedia
This card/Gorz is included to cover dead hands(dead hands=hands that contain alot of unplayable cards like Wulf,Lightsworn Beast and Necro Gardna,
It also gains 600 ATK and DEF for every card in your hand.

Now comes the easy bit:How do I Summon Tragoedia,Its a level 10 so it requires 2 tributes, doesn't it?

No it doesnt, the most amazing thing about this card is that when you take battle damage you can Special Summon it from your hand meaning no tributes required!

Tech Card 3:Pot Of Duality

As I mentioned earlier the stability this card gives to any deck this format is amazing,
if you open with it you can get alot set up for next turn meaning you can explode and possibly win the game next turn.

Tech Cards4/5: Royal Oppression/Decree

Once you have taken control of the field with cards like Lumina and Celestia you can set Oppression to stop them from Special Summoning, then when its back to your go you can play Decree to not only stop Oppression but also any other Traps your opponent could have to stop your power cards like Judgment Dragon and Celestia.

So thats all for now hope you enjoyed reading.

Until next time...

Rio's Tips #1

Just a quick thought on one of the most powerful things a duelist has... Thats right!
The Side Deck:

A side deck can be used in so many ways,
for one you can Side 15 cards in that changes what deck you're playing completely!
This was most famously used by competitors at the 2007 Nationals by players including 3 of the top 8
where they would start a game in the tournament with Monarchs and side deck into Burn!
Meaning that the opponent would have used the other option of side decking(Will explain in a second) Meaing alot of cards which only work well against monarchs but not against burn giving them the edge in game 2.

The second use of side decking is to use cards that counter popular decks,
at the moment your side deck should include cards like this:
2 Effect Veiler (this stops monsters big and small,This card can stop them using brionac to bounce all your cards back to your hand,Dark Armed Dragon from destroying your field and Debris Dragon from reviving any monsters.)
2 D.D. Crow (alot of the popular decks need cards in the Graveyard so why not remove them!)
2 Gottoms' Emergency Call(X-Sabers)
2 Consecrated Light(This stops popular decks like Blackwing and Infernity from swarming the field with all their dark monsters!)
1-2 System Down(By paying 1000 life points you can remove from play all machine type monsters on your opponents side of the field and Graveyard from play!)
1-2 Dust Tornado(Thsi destroys as Spell/Trap card your opponent controls making this card great against:Burn,Gladiator Beasts and other Spell/Trap heavy decks)
Other popular Side Deck cards include:
Mirror Of Oaths:Stops Gravekeepers Spy,Super-Nimble Mega Hamster Engine and Gladiator Beasts!
One For One: Allows you at the cost of a monster to Special Summon cards like Consecrated Light etc...)
Prime Material Dragon(Stops decks like Burn and Gadgets from Burning you or using cards like "Smashing Ground" or "Fissure")

Thats all for now,but always remember if you lose the first game of the match the other 2 games are there for the taking if you use your side deck correctly.
